You can take one of our complimentary canoes or kayaks out on the river. Every now and then, after a big rain, the river gets high, but for the most of the year, it’s gentle and fairly easy to navigate, even for beginners. For canoe tips click here.
There are several miles of marked hiking trails for nature lovers, hikers, or folks who just want to get out into the quiet of the woods. For more on springtime hiking click here.
Fishing on the river is great from February through November when the river's relatively clear, but slower during colder months. Expect to catch feisty smallmouth and spotted bass, with plenty of goggle-eyed perch. You may also fish our stocked pond (no license required). For more fishing info click here.
All of our cabins feature outdoor firepits, perfect for roasting hot-dogs or smores, and all of the cabins have roasting-sticks. If you’re not super adept at building a fire, don’t worry! We provide fire-starters. For fire starting tips click here.
If you’re bringing kids or a larger group, we also have a playground with a swing-set, basketball hoop, and a classic sand volleyball court.
There are is also a nationally-designated scenic byway just up the road, the Talimena Scenic Drive. Just about any direction you drive for an hour from here is full of gorgeous scenery.
We also have some of the most beautiful night skies in the country—there’s no light pollution at all. We like to joke that you can see just about all the stars there are from here.
